The Purpose of a Weekend at

Alliance Marriage Encounter

(ALMA):

• To renew the couple's relationship
  
• To renew the couple's relationship with God
  

• To introduce couples to a communication tool that enables them to fully share their needs, beliefs, feelings, hopes, and dreams without the underlying expectation that their spouse must change.
• To enhance the couple's sensitivity to each other to lead to an increase of spousal knowledge that, in turn leads to greater mutual respect and satisfaction.
  
• To increase awareness of the covenantal nature of marriage
  
• To increase appreciation of the mtual joy and responsibility that can be shared by spouses in a marriage that is lived according to God's plan for marriage.
  

• Couples receive sound, practical advice about marital communications.
• Couples discover increased depths of intimacy.
  
• Couples realize that they are not alone in their marital experience: others have similar feelings, needs. challenges, and problems.
  
• Couples are strenghtened as they find others with similar hopes, dreams, and goals.
  
• Couples are exposed to the love, care, and concern of family members, friends, and the local church.
